Troop 156's Eagle's Nest

An Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. Those who attain this rank are called an Eagle or Eagle Scout. As boys advance through the Scout ranks, they are recognized for what they DO. The Eagle Rank is different, because it is more a measure of the KIND OF PERSON A BOY BECOMES, not merely what activities have been completed.

The fact that a boy is an Eagle Scout carries with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service. The award is a performance based achievement whose standards have been well maintained over the years. Since its introduction in 1911, more than 2 million young men have earned the Eagle Scout rank. Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 4 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. Nevertheless, the goals of Scouting - citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness - remain important for all Scouts, whether or not they attain the Eagle Scout rank.
