BSA Troop 156 Cedar Point / COSI Trip

Rained out at Cedar Point

This day taught a lesson that all of us have to learn at some point in our lives.  No matter how well you plan an event, sometimes there are forces beyond your control that prevents that event from happening.  At that point, you have to think on your feet, come up with alternatives, and make the best of the day.

Troop 156 had chartered a bus and had planned the Cedar Point trip for months.  We drive all the way down to the entrance to Cedar Point and discover it was raining hard.  It was going to rain all day.   When it rains for an extended period of time, Cedar Point does not open up their rides.

The adults and scout leaders put their heads together and discussed options.    We decided on going to the COSI Center for Science and Industry Museum in Toledo.

After we left the museum, we had dinner at the restaurant made famous by Jamie Farr in the MASH series.  We were in between rain storms and were on our way home.  After dinner our bus driver, one of the most professional and knowledgeable ones I have ever taken a tour with, had an idea for us.  There just happened to be a Putt-R-Golf, Batting Cage, and Go-Kart Race Track on our way home at the corner of Ford Road and I-275.  The rain hadn't hit yet by the time we were in the area, so we stopped.

Fore!  We had a partial reunion of Cub Scout Den 10 participate in a game of Putt-R-Golf

If you played a really bad round of golf?

By the time we finished our round of golf, the storm clouds were coming in fast.  Some of us ran down to the Go-Kart track and strapped in.  We finished our three laps and jumped out of our cars just as the skies opened up.  Despite missing Cedar Point, we still had a great day!
